You can NOT use the "shock" feature of the dual-shock controller. A few people have libraries and descriptions of how to read the analog values of the control sticks. If you download the hmazesrc.zip "Haunted Maze" code from my page, and check out the lib\epad.c and lib\epad.h files that I use for control pad functions you'll get one example for sure.
