There isn't a really straightforward answer. I think a lot of the important points have been covered here, but so much depends on your situation and patience. If you want an answer: yes, you should learn C++, but probably not quite yet. It certainly isn't necessary, and I get the impression that, particularly in game programming, there are speed issues it takes skill and experience to overcome. It's a skill worth having, definitely, and there are conveniences in C++ which make it more pleasant to program; however, it seems to me that you want to spend as little time as possible learning how to program, and as much as possible programming. mike
