The only reason you should stick with Intel is if you want multiple processors. Otherwise, you're wasting your money. If you buy an AMD cpu at the same speed as the Intel equivalent, you'll have enough money left over to buy more ram, a bigger hard drive, or a better video card...definitely worth it if you ask me. The last Intel cpu I've owned was a 486 DX/2-50 in 1994. Since then, I've used AMD and Cyrix. I didn't much care for my Cyrix, but all the AMD's I've had have been stellar, no compatibility problems at all and excellent performance. The only drawback to the AMD-K6 has been a weaker FPU than the Pentium, but the new K6-2 actually outperforms the Pentium 2 FPU. And you don't have to kiss up to the man and get a Slot-1 motherboard, it's a Socket 7 cpu! Just my $0.02 of course, I'm sure others would disagree. But of course they've sold out to Intel, so what do you expect? =) Linux/Windows argument anyone? =P -- ------------------------------- Manifered H.
