Look in your SYSTEM.INI file in the [NonWindowsApp] section. There should be an entry for CommandEnvSize. If it's there, make the number bigger. If it's not there add it with a size of 4096 like this: CommandEnvSize=4096. This entry specifies the size of the environment for COMMAND.COM. Valid sizes are 0 (to disable) and 160 to 32768. Keep in mind that if you specify the environment size in a PIF file it will override this default. Another approach would be to add "/e:4096" to the shell= line in your CONFIG.SYS file.
