Does it? I use the brightness as well, and it's not great. I'm sure I could get smoother fades. While the brightness thing is easy, I notice the gradation of the fades. A better way would be to have the CLUT in memory, then upload it every frame (you'd have to have some sort of triple CLUT buffering scheme), and adjust the CLUT directly.
