I'd have to agree in some respects. Crash Bandicoot is an awesome looking game that you couldn't make without 3D, but it's incredibly annoying when you're running into the screen and can't tell whether you're over the safe land or the unsafe water due to the perspective. I think a lot of essentially 2D games are 3D-ised just to make them look more impressive, but it doesn't always follow that gameplay is better.
