This is a wind-up, right? George Bains' site has a pretty thorough bibliography (http://www.netyaroze-europe.com/~gbains/). I'd personally recommend 'Teach Yourself Games Programming in 21 Days' - it's mostly aimed at DOS mode 13H, but it covers the basics in detail and is easy to understand.
