The OpenGl has kind of backgrounds! Or at least I draw a green square under the board and blue ones around it for grass and sky. We (me the programmer and te 2 artists) didn't have time to draw and/or implement nice backgrounds.

I'll work on the instructions, I have a feeling I did them as a rushed afterthough;)
