I think its more that the machine will be positioned as a home entertainment computer because it will have a hard disc, ethernet connectivity, printers etc. (see a recent Edge on the Tokyo Game show), as well as having USB and i.Link. Basically the PS2 is pretty much like a VAIO from a "black box" perspective.
