As the anonymous "friend" I can say that I have been using the Dual Shock pad on my Yaroze to play the sublime Tekken 3 and there have been no problems - yet! Presumably my warranty is covered, as the Yaroze is categorised as an NTSC J machine as well as a PAL one and so it should be able to use OFFICIAL Sony peripherals from Japan, yes?
