I think he possibly said that spares were limited to education establishments too, but i'm not *sure* on that. The standard playstation repair centre will repair the playstation unit too. There are plans on dodgy websites for constructing your own serial cables, as well as dodgy versions of the bootdisc that don't require the access card. I have also heard that it's possible to copy your access card. I don't condone the use of these in any way tho, thankfully all my kit still works fine, and i'm doing my best to treasure it.
