Well the LINUX kit is, I think, mainly designed to make the PS2 into a PC not a development system as such (although I'm sure it'll be good for that)....remember the pressure to develop the kit came from the LINUX community not any game developers' community.... I suspect they just wanted a good alternative to Intel type PCs. It should make a good LINUX PC since the main problem with running LINUX on a PC is the setting-up of things like X windows (a bit of a black art)--- but since all the units will have the same memory and video hardware etc (unlike normal PSs) then presumably everything can come preconfigured......or if it's not then atleast all the questions and answers on the newsgroups will be usefull for all users.
