I reckon the easiest (and it should be reasonably good, though you'd have to experiment) would be to have a standard image, which is just a unit circle or a square with rounded edges, with a triangle on one point, and just stretch and manipulate that image. Admittedly the triangle would be scaled, but as it's quite small, I don't think this would look too bad, and the triangle often changes size when the bubble increases.
