I originally designed by current game project for the Atari ST and the STOS games programming environment. So my game layout is on a 16x16 grid anyway. I agree that 16x16 is pretty standard which is no doubt why Sony used that size! But in some cases it would be nice to use a different sized cell. Though I could, given the GsSortBg function, have increased the size of my grid and only display a portion of the game area on screen at a time so allowing more detail in the cells making it look better!!
