Same goes for AIFF2VAG. Sure you can have any sampling rate you want, but you'll have to compensate when you key on the instrument. Rate considerations: For bass instruments, long strings or warm synth sounds, use lower sampling rates (8Khz - 16Khz). For leads, pianos, guitars, and most synth sounds, use higher rates (16Khz - 32Khz). This includes digitized voice samples. For very crisp, clear samples (cymbals, hi-hats, snares, complex synths) spend the extra memory and splurge (28Khz-44Khz). If you stick to something basic like this, you'll be able to recreate music faithfully without having to spend unnecessary memory. - e!
