Object of the game The object of this game is very simple. You have to collect a specified number of gems (gem points) and find the exit. There is no lives' limit but a time limit. On your journey you have to conquer various kinds of obstacles and solve manifold puzzles. After you have successfully completed a level you will get a password for the next level. The pause menu Follow the on-screen information to continue, restart level, skip level or quit to main menu. Note: You can only skip bonus levels or levels below the password level (levels you have already played). Information available on your screen This is your Rocks’n’Gems status line on the top of the screen. The basics Walls There are different types of walls like marble, brick, metal or stone walls. Walls are barriers with different characteristics. You cannot get over marble or metal walls but you can get over brick or stone walls after you have blast them. Nonsolid stones Boulders and rocks will always fall down vertically if there is nothing below. Boulders will fall down sideways too, if they lie on some objects like stone walls, mines, bombs, gems, other boulders or rocks. You can push separate boulders to left or right side. Gems There are three kinds of gems (rubies, sapphires and diamonds) with different values. Diamonds (3 gem points) are the most valuable gems in this game followed by sapphire (2 gem points) and ruby gems (1 gem point). Gems will fall down vertically and sideways like boulders. Items hidden in the ground On your journey you will find a lot of items hidden in the ground. There are several keys you need to open doors, (mega) dynamite and bottles of nitro-glycerine (see „explosives“ for details) and a super shovel you need to dig through compact earth (see „specials“ for details). Explosives There are various kinds of explosives. Use explosives to blast walls and many kinds of other obstacles. You can use them to kill all types of enemies too. You cannot collect mines or bombs but you can push them to left or right side like boulders. Handle mines with care, because they will explode if they fall down or they hit by any object. Bombs will only explode if you activate them or they hit by a rock. All other explosives like mega dynamite, dynamite and bottles of nitro-glycerine can be collected. Note that you can only carry nine dynamites, nine bottles of nitro-glycerine and one mega dynamite at the same time. If you carry dynamites and a mega dynamite at the same time and you will set and activate a dynamite, the mega dynamite will set first. This means you can only set a normal dynamite if you do not carry a mega dynamite. Dynamite and mega dynamite hold their position you have set them. Bottles of nitro-glycerine will fall down vertically and explode if they crash onto the ground or they hit by any object. Note that explosives hidden in the ground will not explode when they hit by any object. Enemies There are various types of enemies. You can kill any type of enemies if you throw a boulder or rock down on them. You can also blast them using explosives. Some types of enemies change into other objects like boulders or gems after explosion. There are four types of flyers. If you stand nearby a flyer you will explode. Any flyer has an individually and systematic way to move along the level. It is on you to find out the systematic. Monster amoebas have a more confusing way to move along a level than flyers. In contrast to flyers you can stand next an amoeba excepting standing face to face. Giant electrons will pursue you until they touch you. You have to void any contact with electrons. Specials Boulders and gems will plunge into the moat. After a period of time the boulders or gems are coming out from the moat again. Attention: Sometimes there are various objects like mines, bombs or rocks hidden by the moat. Magic walls transform objects like boulders and gems into other objects. You can activate magic walls if you throw a boulder or gem down into this walls. Note that this walls only work for a short period of time. Thereafter the magic wall will be inactive forever. Objects falling into burning barrels will be destroyed. You can use an explosion to inflame barrels. You can stop growing acid liquids by building barrages with objects like boulders, rocks, gems, mines or bombs. All kinds of walls are naturally barrages. If acid liquids cannot expand more, they will transform into gems. Sometimes acid liquids will transform into boulders after a period of time. Acid liquids will also overflow items (for example keys, super shovel, (mega) dynamites, bottles of nitro-glycerine). You cannot get these items until you have transformed the liquid into gems or boulders. You will also meet so-called spitters. Different types of objects like boulders, rocks, gems, mines and bombs will come out from spitters. You will need the right key for opening doors. To find the right key is the only way to overcome doors. For digging through compact earth you need a super shovel (see „items hidden in the ground“). You can also blast compact earth by using explosives. Note: The super shovel will not work forever. The closed exit of a level looks like metal wall. After you have collected the specified number of gem points the exit will be opened .
