Mobius Codeworks Ltd 1998. Z2 Map Editor Released 30-4-1998 As we promised a month or so ago here's the mapeditor we wrote and used to create all the maps in Z2. I've not had the time to tidy it up or even document the save format so I've included the source to the save module and a header file. If there's something missing email me, and I'll try my best. You have to set a registry variable so it knows where all you're textures are kept. Edit the mapedit .reg file with the correct path and merge it with your registry. Note, also you should have OpenGL installed on you're machine, and if you can afford it a reasonable opengl card. (3dfx is NOT and opengl card..!) All development has been done on NT4 with service pack 3, we've not run it on anything else so I can't vouch if it will work or not.. (more likely not..) If something don't appear to work correctly, most likely it don't. This software is not supported by myself or anyone involved with its development. Use the Save menu option under file, don't use export to psx, that won't work for you... Given the source you should be able to create a converter to export files into your own format. I don't intend doing anymore development work on this, so this is it.. Oh, it also uses scads of memory. It was written for our development machines I'm afraid. (opengl cards + 96 Mb memory..) so don't be surprised if it's a bit sluggish. Now I remember it you should not be running in a dithered video mode. It screws up the tile selection code. Try 24 bit or true colour.. remember down means up and up means down.. -- see the toolbox. :-) Keys. Preview Window Shift + left click -- select tile left hold -- move view ala doom. right hold -- move foward. Top view left hold drag -- add tiles to map within dragbox.. left click -- add single tile right hold -- pan map ctrl + right + mouse up/down -- zoom in+out Texture Browser double click assigns texture to selected tiles.. That should get you going for now.. If you can make use of the mapeditor send us a postcard or a greet in you project would be cool.. On a different note Greggy has moved away from the area, so will not be able to contribute as much to the team. We wish him the best of luck in Kent.. :-) As always, comments welcome @ jim@codeworks.demon.co.uk greg@x-nin.demon.co.uk andreww@noiseworks.demon.co.uk or visit our website. www.codeworks.demon.co.uk Cheers Jim.
