Up v1.1 by David Johnston and Mike Goatly 28/9/99 Up is a very simple game. You control a dodo who is unable to fly but can flap his wings in order to power up a jump. In the one player game your objective is to see how far you can ascend up the tower without falling off the bottom of the screen. You can use any button on either pad and your power gauge appears of the right side of the screen. The higher the bar is when you release the button the higher you will jump but if the bar goes off the top of the screen it will restart at the bottom. Your score is displayed at the top-left of the screen. In multi-player mode you can select how many players to have and who of those should be computer controlled (Note: only 4 players can be human controlled). You can also choose how many rounds will be in the game. Once you have made these selections the controls screen will be displayed. This tells each player what buttons they can use to make their dodo jump. Each player should press their button in order for the game to start. In the multi-player game the screen is squashed vertically to give more playing area and each dodo has their number above their head. Play continues as normal where any dodo advancing off the top of the screen causes the play area to scroll and anyone falling off the bottom is dead. The round finishes when only one dodo is left. As it often becomes hard to see your power bar in a multi-player game a red square will appear over your dodo's beak when your power gauge is nearly full. Scoring ------- Each player receives points according to the score that was displayed in the top-left of the screen when they died. The winning player in the round receives a bonus 150 points. Players also get bonus points according to how long they spent in the lead. When the specified amount of rounds have passed the player with the most points is the winner.
