Well, as promised here is my first demo! I am quite pleased with the result, it turned out pretty much how I expected. It took about three weeks to program which is a long time considering what it is but the first two weeks were fraught with eroneous code. I'm still on a very steep learning curve.

By now you are probably thinking, "Bloody Hell, would this guy just tell us what he's done!", so here it is - it's a fire demo. Now I know most of you are gonna think I pinched the idea from Rad but I can assure you that I had no idea he was doing a fire demo when I started work on mine. I took a look at his, naturally, and was disapointed to see the low res, but I understand why he used it. This provoked me to attempt to squeeze it into the highest res possible and I think I have succeded.

Using a higher res meant I had to leave out certain luxuries, such as sprites and transparencey. My demo still runs about five (I think) times slower than Rad's but this is not so bad when you consider that it's approx. 24 times more detailed! The lack of sound effects and intro is nothing to do with optimisation, but time. I haven't tried using sounds yet and as I said earlier I spent three perilous weeks ploughing through 'buggy' code so I just wanted to be done with it.

I may add these little touches later on, I also have an idea how to speed it up a little more so I might do that aswell. If you think it's slow now you should've seen it in it's second week! The last three days were spent soley on optimisation. Well worth it, though.

This picture is actually from my PC version which I coded a couple of years ago in Pascal. If your interested I'll gladly let you have it.

Well, I hope you like it. I really only did it to get something done and to see if it could be done!

Burn, baby burn...
