Demo ~~~~ This demo represents about 5% of what will be a complete game. There isn't that much to do in the game at the moment except fly around and shoot. Most of what you'll see in this demo is arbitary. Things such as graphics, interface and control are likely to change. The basic game engine so far demonstrates high resolution graphics and more thorough usage of the d-cache to keep the vsync relatively low. Some graphical effects are also demonstrated such as stream effects from the missiles and the ships engines but these will be improved. Other features have been implemented which aren't enabled in the demo - other ships and other weapons. Wormhole and other explosion effects have also been implemented, but you dont get to see them. Virtually no AI has been implemented yet, so the code that controls the wingmen is temporary. A majority of the time spent on the game so far has been on design. A: Although it might seem similar to my previous 2D game I can assure you this project has been written from scratch. Everything is done differently, and the engine runs a lot more efficiently. The gameplay will also be much more refined. Q: Why high resolution? A: The problem with my previous game was low resolution, which was a mistake. High resolution enables me to fit more detail onto the screen so that the player can see more of what is around them. Q: More ships? A: Weapons, upgrades and ships will become available as you progress through the game. This will form part of the storyline. Q: What is the storyline? A: This is still being written, although anything can change. My aim is to give the game a Japanese feel since they always seem to come up with the most elaborate plots. There will be a sort of RPG element to the game, since there are various characters who form part of the storyline. Someone is currently creating stills for these characters which will be used as in cut scenes between missions. Q: Are you likely to finish this? A: I am extremely determined to finish this project, and I will pull in other people to help develop it if necessary. I hope to get the finished game on the cover of OPM. Help ~~~~ GRAPHICS PROGRAMMER If you think you can design a more realistic looking background for the game, please contact me. The background must at least include stars, planets and nebulas. It will run in tandem with the game and must use as little vsyncs as possible. I will provide you with all the images I have.
