About Me

On this page I will tell you a little about myself for anyone that is interested.

My Name is Scott Evans and I have recently started work as a games programmer for Acclaim Studios in London. I started on the 1st of September 1999. Before this I was working as a games programmer at Codemasters for 2 years. During these 2 years I have worked on various hadware platforms including Playstation, Dreamcast and System 12 (Namco arcade boards). I have coded in C, C++, R3000 and SH4 (Dreamcast assembly language). I have worked on a Japanese version of Micro Machines V3 (Namco/Playstation), an arcade version of MMV3 (Namco/System 12), Dreamcast research, Micro Machines V4 (Codemasters/Playstation) and of course my pride and joy Bouncer 2 (Yaroze).

For as long as I can remember I have enjoyed playing and trying to write computer games. I never thought when I used to be messing around with my Atari STE all those years ago that one day I would be coding games for some of the best games consoles around. In the future I hope to be working on next generation console game development, you know Playstation 2, Dreamcast and the new machine from Nintendo (currently known as Dolphin).

Before working for Codemasters I was working as technical support for a company called Sirretta Ltd who are based in Reading. They specialize in system integration and network testing and analysis tools. I enjoyed my 9 months there (15/12/97 - 31/8/97) and gained a lot of useful experience of different hardware and software. Before this I was studying for my computer science degree at Cardiff University (9/93 - 7/96).

After leaving University and not having the experience to get into the games industry (believe me I tried for a long time) I took the technical support role at Sirretta Ltd. During my time there I saved up enough money to buy a decent PC and a Yaroze. On the 25th March 1997 (which just also happens to be my Birthday), the postman delivered my Yaroze.

I learnt how to program the Yaroze and wrote some very basic demos. Armed with my demos I applied for as many game development jobs as I could find and the rest as they say is history.

Below is a picture of a 106 GTi. Just like mine, I remember picking it up and it only had 3 miles on the clock. It was worth the 6 month it took to build it I can tell you.

I have had my 106 GTi for almost 2 years now and all I can say is it is a superb car. Believe everything they say in the magazine reviews. I will not be getting rid of it for a long time.

As you have probably guessed as well as programming I am interested in cars. My other hobbies include weight training, martial arts, drawing (that is my handy work in the background) and listening to various DJ mixes like Paul Oakenfold, Sasha and Nick Warren.
