SCLXDEMO v0.02 -- Just a working very early demo of ScaleX (working on for a week or so) What's new? This slightly updated version allows 4 players to move their cube around the track (lane changes now implemented), but you'll need an Analog Pad to get this to work. Digital support will of course be in the final version. The speed of the car is directly connected to the analog input, but it will have proper physical acceleration and wheelspin (with tyre smoke!) pretty soon. Note also that you can go backwards in my version! (the point of it? To back up to try a jump again of course! Shortcut-jumps will hopefully be included) Finally susses this dynamic TMD lark! Oh yes! Pretty much did it my own way (probably not very efficiently), but a lot of the 3D code is thanks largely to Peter Passmore's brilliant tutorial The whole track is edited to one single TMD, with the shadow another Source available with final game (which will include a fully working track editor (something like this demo in EDIT mode but MUCH better) and LOTSA stupid 4-player fun hopefully! *** Press SELECT to toggle between EDIT mode / DEMO mode *** EDIT mode: CROSS to add a track piece SQUARE to delete a track piece (Hold L2 for fast key repeat) Hold R2 + MOVE to move camera (R1 moves camera up/down) MOVE D-pad to turn/tilt next track piece (watch it bend!) *VERY* early demo remember! (bearing ye olde demo cliche "gouraud cubes for characters" mode!) I know the lane-changers don't work and the piece type just cycles through but what y'gonna do. I welcome any cool ideas, but you have to realise I have pure ideas coming out of my orifices already -- getting them in code is another matter (don't we all know it!) But anything you think I won't have thought of please get in touch. Or if you just feel like saying hi! Cheers, Jim James Shaughnessy http://www.netyaroze-europe.com/~shaughnj
