A couple of hours insomnia allowed me to finish my first Yaroze program since returning to it (I'd previously done a couple of simple 2D sprite and 3D model viewing programs). This was .. wait for it ... drum roll please ... the game of life by Joh Conway. I always find it an easy program to program when learning a new system, and as I took George Bain's 2D outline and inserted creating boxes in the right place for the grid of cells, this allowed me to have a main.c for the Yaroze stuff and a ca.c for the CA stuff. Easy. Wrote it up in the C tutorial, concentrating on the programming rather than the Yaroze (I'll return to the Yaroze section when I start the 2D tutorial, as displaying boxes is about as simple as it gets!).
So I'll have finished the C tutorial shortly now - just a Genetic Algorithm to convert from AutoCAD programming to Yaroze and a few cleaning up bits, and then it's off to 2D Yaroze land and beyond!

Continued with my C Programming tutorial, converting the context from using ADS with AutoCAD to using Yaroze. It's not teaching the Yaroze libraries, but teaching C in a Yaroze environment. I'm at the writing a CA (Cellular Automaton) stage now though and have to actually use graphics rather than printing output to the command line, so I'll have to get into the guts of Yaroze.
Also, starting to learn gmax and maxscript. The ambition is to be able to use Max/Viz/gmax for my architectural studies this year, and also to write an export script to export to RSD for use with Yaroze. Wouldn't it be great to write a POV exporter too, for rendering with POV-Ray? I wish!

Just a quickie to note that I've got my old system back to the stage it was at about 6 weeks ago when it crashed!
Also added a section in setting up, to show how to link the libref.hlp fil within MS Developer Studio for F1 Extension Help with the Yaroze library functions.
Retrieved my scanner from a friend, too, after about 2 years!
My A3 Canon BJC-4550 colour printer is not working now though - yet more expense.

Wayhay! Got another hard drive - 540MB to be exact for a tenner - so that I can reliably install Windows98 again and use the less reliable one just for storage. Managed to stick it all together and install Windows, although I've still got everything else to install now. At least it means I'll be able to start so Yarozeing again now though (given some time).

I'm still knackered and pushed for time the whole time, but hey, who said life would be easy - I enjoy making it difficult!
Only news to report is that I ordered a 540MB hard drive from eBay (£10 inc P&P), so should be able to get my old machine up an running again soon to do more work on the YUG.
